The season begins with a concert featuring local
cellist Hannah McFarlane. A rare performance of
Liszt’s Angelus brings a wonderful evocation of
Roman bells and the concert concludes with two
light and joyful symphonies

We welcome one of the most promising players of our
time in Strauss’ epic concerto. The Puccini and
Mendelssohn works bring an idyllic Italian flavour to the
second half of this varied concert, as reflected in our brochure
cover photo. The concert begins with Wagner’s musical
birthday present to his wife Cosima.

The final concert in our season sees the return of
Frida Backman who performed the Brahms
violin concerto with the orchestra in 2016.
Frida returns to play the ever-popular Tchaikovsky
concerto. The season concludes with Beethoven’s
magnificent ‘Eroica’ symphony.
